Haley Schany

About me: I grew up in Spencer, Iowa and graduated high school in 2016 before spending the next 5 years at Iowa State University. I graduated with Bachelor’s degrees in Kinesiology/Health and Nutritional Science. After graduation in May 2021, I moved to Chicago upon accepting a job in corporate wellness working for a small startup company. The center of my heart (after Jesus) is my family and friends, and, aside from the sacraments, I find God most in the people He puts in my life that love me so well. 

Why did you get involved with Even Now Catholic? With an invitation from Michael, I felt God asking me to say ‘yes’ to helping this ministry become a reality, and help nurture whatever plans He had for it. Michael recognized the gifts from the Lord I could bring to the table, and every step of the way for our team has been one little ‘yes’ at a time that God has taken and used in such a beautiful way. 

The namesake for Even Now Ministry is from Joel 2:12, which says, “Even now, says the Lord, return to me with your whole heart...” In a sentence, what stands out to you from this verse? “With your whole heart”. Not some of it, or half of it, or the parts I feel comfortable bringing to God, my whole heart. That’s all He wants, and yet we still try to overcomplicate what He asks of us. So if each day we can try to trust the Lord anew with our hearts resting in His, we truly find our joy here on earth. Mother Mary, pray for us!

What are your hobbies? You can find me exploring Chicago in my free time, or traveling to see family and friends throughout the year. I love being with people, sharing a good meal, spending the day in the sun on the beach, or exploring new places/going to events of all kinds.
