Zach Denning
About Me:
I grew up in a small town in southwest Iowa called Neola, best known for our annual celebration called Hoo-Doo Days. After graduating, I attended Iowa State University and studied Industrial Engineering. After taking a couple engineering internships and co-ops as well as spending some time in Ireland, I took my first full-time job in St. Joseph, MO where I met my wife, Olivia. I ultimately moved back to my home state of Iowa (Des Moines) after two years there. We were married in June of 2023 and are expecting our first baby, a boy, in March 2025!
Why did you get involved with Even Now?
I am the newest member to the board, as I was originally a member of Michael’s first small group. After two trimesters, I branched off and began my own small group sessions, in which we read ‘The Imitation of Christ.’ Eventually, I joined the board in 2024. I initially got involved to pursue an active group that was in pursuit of community and connection through small groups, and have really enjoyed seeing the evolution of ENC.
The namesake for Even Now Ministry is from Joel 2:12, which says, “Even now, says the Lord, return to me with your whole heart...” In a sentence, what stands out to you from this verse?
“Return to me…” is a good reminder that Christ always calls us back, no matter how far we feel we are from Him. You can never give too much of your heart to God, and in return he will never give you more than you can handle.
What are your hobbies?
First and foremost, spending quality time with friends and family. I love to travel and hike, especially in the mountains (Despite living in a very flat state). Otherwise, I love running and doing mid-distance racing, reading, gardening and just being outside in general.
Three favorite movies or tv shows, go!
Doctor Who (Currently re-watching; on season 4), Malcolm in the Middle, and any of the Harry Potter Books/Movies for nostalgia/comfort.
